Job Description:

This Operations Risk Partner invests in the future of Southwest's People in their development, implementation, and coordination of the Operations Risk Management process, with a particular focus on our Safety & Security, Ground Operations, and Cargo Departments. This role works collaboratively with Teams and Leaders throughout these Departments to oversee the Risk Management process and FAA Safety Management System regulatory requirements. This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

Responsibilities
- Communicate all aspects of Operations Risk Management both verbally and in writing to all levels of Leadership and Employees
- Perform cross-functional operational risk assessments and help ensure mitigations are implemented as required
- Design, plan, and coordinate with all SWA Departments the details of risk management in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry guidelines
- Develop and manage risk management processes and associated reporting systems and databases applicable to SWA Operations Risk Management
- Manage relationships with Safety, Standards, and Compliance representatives from all Operational Departments, regulatory authorities, and governing bodies (e.g., FAA, ICAO, DOD) regarding the development and management of SWA SMS Risk Management
- Manage the research, analysis, and development of hazard identification/risk management processes to enhance SWA Safety
- Oversee quality of SWA risk management process and outputs produced by Operations
- Produce SRM documentation and publications, including developing and facilitating SRM-related training
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 5 Safety Management Systems
- Skilled in working with MS Office 365 (e.g. Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Skilled in organizational techniques with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with others as part of a Team and communicate effectively face to face, in writing, and on the phone
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the highest degree of confidentiality as well as meet expectations of confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information
- Ability to handle multiple situations simultaneously
- Ability to think strategically and understand the relationship between current actions and future consequences
- Ability to handle complex issues and work at a fast pace
- Ability to take initiative and work independently
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Required: Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
- Aviation
- Aviation risk management
- Safety or regulatory programs
- Data analysis procedures, techniques, data mining, and relational databases
- Managing data collection and analysis programs
- Preferred: Experience in public speaking, being a self-starter, and managing multiple schedules and tasks at once.
- Preferred: Familiarity with Quickbase, Southwest Integrated Flight Tracking System (SWIFT), and Tableau.
Licensing/Certification
- Required: Current passport
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space workstation/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be able to work some extended hours and business travel as needed
