The primary responsibility of the PR Specialist is to plan, design and conduct public relations programs designed to create and maintain awareness and a favorable public image of Amegy and is the media contact for Amegy. Plans and directs development and communication of information to keep the public informed of bank services, accomplishments, or point of view. This role will also work closely with the internal communication specialist and provide support as needed.



Key activities include:




  • Identify and Develop relationships with representatives of key media sources and maintain existing relationship.

  • Develop a media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast, and online media.

  • Develop and execute crisis communications responses to the media, community and clients regarding the bank’s reputation and public perception working with Corporate Marketing, Legal, Investor Relations, and Service and Quality Management.

  • Analyze media coverage; develop responses when needed.

  • Develop weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual public relations media activity reports.

  • In partnership with Corporate Marketing and Contributions establish and maintain cooperative relationship with representatives of the community, consumers, and other public interest groups.

  • As needed research data and create ideas to generate interest to the media.

  • In partnership with key stakeholders write and distribute press releases and communications to media. representatives and other persons who may be interested in learning about Amegy and its products and services.

  • Provide strategic counsel and media coaching to executive bankers, including providing executives with facts and Q&A or other supporting materials to use when delivering messages to the public or media.

  • Partner with Marketing and other areas of the bank to develop, implement and monitor brand public relations programs and corporate media activities.

  • Participate in content planning for social media posts across social media channels.

  • Work closely with the internal communication specialist to help ensure that the Bank communicates consistent messages to all audiences, including employees, customers, investors, the community, and the media.

  • Serves as the primary back-up to the internal communication specialist.

  • Represent Amegy Bank communication efforts with counterparts across the Zions Bancorporation footprint.



Qualifications:




  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English or a related field and 4+ years’ experience in corporate communications, public relations or related experience to include writing, editing and producing communications or other directly related experience. 2+ years project management experience required. A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.

  • Advanced knowledge of writing and communications techniques and skills for print and electronic mediums.

  • Experience in the field of public relations.

  • Strong knowledge of AP journalistic style standards, content management systems (SharePoint knowledge a plus) and corporate communication principles and practices.

  • Ability to manage time and effectively prioritize and balance multiple projects to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Professional, creative, independent, highly organized team player with attention to detail.

  • Proven ability to project manage and execute external communication aligned with business goals and objectives.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Power Point

  • Willingness to work additional hours outside of 8am-5pm business hours when necessary.

  • Ability to work effectively with people on multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Creative contributor and problem solver with excellent attention to detail.

  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral form.

  • Knowledge of communication research, planning and strategy.



Salary Range:




  • $47,000 – $75,000 annually (based upon relatable skills/experience).
